This website helps you:

✔ Ensure that you are complying with any planning permissions for which a travel plan forms part

✔ Project manage aspects relating to the preparation, approval and operation of a travel plan - to manage travel more smartly in your business or development

✔ Verify that the actions you have chosen to meet your targets will be suitable for influencing how people travel

✔ Track the implementation of your action plan of measures to support smarter travel choices

✔ Store survey data and other files relating to your travel plan

✔ Analyse the outcomes and rewards being achieved by your travel management strategies

✔ Calculate and produce annual reports, and record progress in reducing the CO₂ emissions arising from travel to work at your site

✔ Communicate with Somerset County Council directly to help manage and monitor your travel plan

The tool is suitable for all types of development in Somerset - commercial, residential, and visitor-based - and can help you track progress in managing commuting travel, travel in the course of work, and visitor-based travel.

You can begin to develop a smarter management framework for travel in your own business or development by using the resources on our main site - Moving Somerset Forward

You can then manage the implementation of your travel plan, through the built-in reminder, action tracking and outcome recording systems, and communicate directly with Somerset County Council

Using this site:

iOnTRAVEL is run by Somerset County Council and is part of its Moving Somerset Forward campaign to encourage smarter travel choices. This software is now for sale to other authorities to use or adapt to manage their own travel plan portfolios. Use the Contact Us button to get in touch.

STEP 1. Register as a new user or log-in as an existing user

✔ You will be granted access to iOnTRAVEL, and will be able to register a travel plan site in your name

STEP 2. Enter basic information about your site and how it will operate

✔ A dedicated area for your own travel plan(s) will then be set up

STEP 3. Submit your travel plan to Somerset County Council for review and agreement

✔ Once your travel plan document is agreed* by Somerset County Council, you can enter your actions and targets so your travel plan can be approved*

STEP 4. Input a series of targets from your agreed travel plan to quantify changes in the use of alternative modes of transport over time

STEP 5. Input a series of actions from your agreed travel plan

✔ Your travel plan will then be approved by Somerset County Council, and you will have full access to the travel plan management system on the site

* Full approval for travel plans submitted with planning applications is conditional upon a complete record of your travel plan being entered into iOnTRAVEL
